Returning to the first question

Before action comes orientation — and before orientation, remembrance.

Returning to the first question

Activity is easy to mistake for direction. A full schedule can conceal an unexamined purpose.

The first question is not what should be done, but for whom. Everything downstream depends on the answer.

Remembrance is the practice that keeps this question live. Without it, intention quietly drifts towards habit and reputation.

Returning is therefore not a retreat from work but the condition for work that lasts.

Those who begin here tend to finish differently.
